A little quiet.
One more
word.
Open your book. Find your rhythm. Punctum brings each word to one point, at a pace that feels like yours.
How it works
Each word is aligned at its optimal recognition point, so your eyes stay on one spot instead of jumping from word to word. This is called RSVP — rapid serial visual presentation. You set the pace. The default is 300 words per minute, which is a speed research finds comfortable, not the highest number the screen can show.
- Add a book from your device.
- Pick a pace that suits you.

Files
Your library, with you
Open your own TXT, PDF and EPUB files. They stay on your device, and so does your place in every book — no upload, no account. Web articles: share or paste a link, and the page is downloaded straight to your device and turned into text to read. Reading works offline; the optional AI features automatically send only already-read text to Google Gemini, once you enable them.
Typography
Fonts that were made to be read
OpenDyslexic and Atkinson Hyperlegible ship with the app, with adjustable letter spacing. No download, no network. Both were designed for readers who find ordinary type hard to hold on to. Comfortable reading: six reading settings in one tap — a more legible font, wider letter spacing, the paragraph panel and more — and one tap to undo. Light and dark themes, tuned for reading in the dark, with your choice of reading background and accent colour.
Offline
No connection needed
Punctum does not need a connection to read. Your books and your progress live on your device, so it works on a plane or underground just the same.
Notes from the margins.
Questions
Will I still understand what I read?
Up to roughly 350 words per minute, research says comprehension is about the same as normal reading. Past that it starts to drop, and inference goes first. Punctum defaults to 300 and tells you when you cross into the range where the evidence stops supporting you.
What files can I open?
Open TXT, PDF, EPUB, DOCX and DRM-free MOBI files directly on your phone or tablet, or select text in another app and share it to Punctum. Not sure what to read? Start with free public-domain classics in your device’s language. Scanned PDFs — pages that are pictures of text rather than text — are not supported yet, and Punctum tells you instead of failing silently.
Do I need an account or an internet connection?
No account, no sign-up. Reading your own files needs no connection: your books and your place in them stay on your device. A connection is needed to download a web article or a free classic, and to use the optional AI features, which send already-read text to Google Gemini only after you enable them. Ordinary file reading stays offline.
Where do my books go?
Your original files stay on your device: they are read from it and never uploaded, synced or held on a server. The only text that can leave your device is the already-read text sent to Google Gemini for the optional AI features, and only after you enable them.
What does it cost?
There is a free reading allowance of about 100 pages — enough to get to know the app. After that you can buy a one-time pack of about 10 books (≈4,000 pages) or an unlimited yearly plan. No ads, and no subscription required to keep reading what you already read.
Which languages does the interface support?
Eighteen, including right-to-left layout for Arabic and Urdu. Book language is detected separately, and sets your starting speed.
What if I skip a day?
Nothing is lost. Punctum keeps reading statistics, a daily goal and a reading streak, and taking a day off won’t break the streak.
